A Witch, A Mystic & A Feminist recently achieved an extraordinary milestone by winning the Best Religion & Spirituality Podcast award at the 18th Annual People's Choice Awards on September 30, 2023.
Christy, Jamie, Mama Deb and I embarked on this adventure with a shared passion for spirituality, feminism, and mysticism, with zero experience in podcasting.
Our victory came just after we celebrated the first anniversary of A Witch, A Mystic & A Feminist. This journey has been nothing short of magical, as we have grown with each episode, learning so much from each one of our guests, and learning from each other, as well as sharing this knowledge with our diverse and growing audience.
When the podcast was announced as the Best Religion & Spirituality Podcast at the People's Choice Podcast Awards, we were all taken by surprise. And our shock was quickly replaced by elation, but it also led to moments of self-reflection, at least for me. I realized that I was embracing ego-driven desires, such as winning awards or seeking recognition. And it made me ask the question, does this diminish my spirituality?
I created this podcast with the intention of embracing self-honesty, even when it's challenging. I openly admit that wanting to win an award for a podcast centered on spirituality, where we discuss breaking down the ego, seems paradoxical. It's an ego-driven desire, seeking recognition and validation for our work. However, people often have both spiritual aspirations and ego-driven desires. And I believe it is important to recognize that the ego can coexist with spiritual growth.
Ultimately, I believe the key is to strike a balance and remain mindful of your intentions. Or maybe I’m just sitting in my human existence attempting to justify the fact that this win just feels really good! It feels good because it represents an award bestowed by our very own community, our tribe, our listeners. We are profoundly thankful and filled with gratitude for the ongoing support we receive from all of you!
